You How to create a BlackBerry ID while using a BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone
You How to create a BlackBerry ID while using a BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone
If you already have a BlackBerry® ID (BBID), you know it is a convenient way to access BlackBerry products and services. A BBID allows you to download and manage your apps from the BlackBerry App World storefront and log into any BlackBerry product that supports a BlackBerry ID.
For those that plan on purchasing a new BlackBerry® 7 OS smartphone and dont have a BBID, you will need to create one when you first set up your new device. If you are using an older BlackBerry smartphone, a BBID can be created by accessing BlackBerry App World on your smartphone or by navigating to the BlackBerry ID website.
Heres an overview of how to create a BlackBerry ID when setting up a new BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone.
To create a BBID, all you need is a valid email address that you can access from a web browser on your desktop, laptop or tablet. An important thing to keep in mind is that this email address can be any account you have and does not need to be associated with your BlackBerry smartphone or BlackBerry® PlayBook tablet.
Creating a BBID on a BlackBerry 7 smartphone for the first time
After starting a BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone for the first time, you will be shown a short video that outlines some of the features offered by your device. You will then be presented with the BlackBerry ID sign up page. From here you can create your BlackBerry ID using the steps below.Note: If you didnt follow the prompt to create a BlackBerry ID after starting up, select Setup from the Home screen followed by BlackBerry ID.
1. Review and if you are in agreement, accept the BlackBerry ID license agreement
2. Fill out all or only the required fields, which are marked with a asterisk(*):
Three fields in particular you should be aware of are when signing up for a BlackBerry ID:
User Name A user name is a valid email address that can be accessed from a web browser on a desktop, laptop or tablet.
Screen Name Although not required, setting a screen name is recommended as this is the name that will appear on BlackBerry websites; for example, when you review an application in BlackBerry App World.
Password When creating a password, it is highly recommended that you choose a secure password that only you would know. This is important because any BlackBerry App World purchasing information you may enter later will be linked to your BlackBerry ID.
3. After submitting your BlackBerry ID account information, youll get an email sent to the address you entered for a user name. It contains an activation link in the body of the message allowing you to verify your email address. Clicking the link will activate your BlackBerry ID.
4. Enter your BlackBerry ID login credentials and select Login.
Now that you have your BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone up and running with BlackBerry ID, Id recommend signing up for BlackBerry® Protect, a free application designed to help find your lost BlackBerry smartphone and allows you to back up some of the information on your smartphone on our secure servers. It can offer peace of mind for small businesses and families, with the ability to protect multiple smartphones. Here are 5 Reasons Why You Should Use BlackBerry Protect on your BlackBerry smartphone.
Dont forget to stop by the BlackBerry Community Support Forums and join in the conversations with other BlackBerry owners. As always, if you have a question, leave a comment and let me know!

What is BlackBerry OS
What is BlackBerry OS
If you find yourself browsing casually through a 3 store, wherever you are in the world, you will not have failed to notice that, for business users especially, one of the most prominent and popular 3g phones is the infamous BlackBerry, developed by the Canadian-based telecommunications equipment firm Research in Motion (RIM).
BlackBerry devices have been around for many years, but what makes this versatile little range of smartphones tick? The answer is the BlackBerry Operating System (OS), the fundamental program installed on all these devices, which loads when you switch it on and then manages the running of all the other programs (or apps) on the phones. BlackBerry OS enables multitasking with smooth and highly responsive efficiency.
A word about multitasking might be useful at this point. In actual fact, most PCs are not really multitasking when users have opened several programs at once; instead, what usually happens is that a single program, the one the user is actively engaged in at any moment, is active and then becomes inactive when the user flips to another program. There is nearly always a time delay involved in switching from one program to another, even if it is quite small. However, the BlackBerry OS dispenses with all that by being genuinely multitask-capable, it really does allow several programs to run simultaneously without compromising on performance. Instead of suspending other processes while the user focuses on one, it allows all of them to take turns at running and it does so at such a high speed that they all appear to be running in parallel.
The BlackBerry OS achieved business fame largely through its native support for corporate email services and WAP 1.2. It permits total wireless synchronisation with major business email services such as Novell GroupWise, Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange. In addition, when used with BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the software package that enables connectivity with these services, it synchronises calendering and contacts as well as notes and tasks.
The first version of the BlackBerry OS made its appearance on the world stage in 1999 and was designed to operate the Pager Blackberry 580. Three years later, in 2002, Blackberry OS 3.6 emerged, coinciding with the launch of the new smartphone, BlackBerry 5810. RIM was busily developing a new version, however and in August 2011, Blackberry OS 7 made its debut on the companys new range of 3g mobiles, the Blackberry Curve, the BlackBerry Torch and the BlackBerry Bold. Most popular apps are compatible with Blackberrys OS from version 4 onwards.
With the advent of BlackBerrys move into the tablet market, in September 2010, RIM introduced its new Blackberry Tablet OS, a QNX-based platform not related to the companys previous mobile operating system. This is the platform behind the new BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet and it is widely expected that the QNX format will form the basis of the forthcoming BlackBerry 10 OS. This is scheduled to hit the market towards the end of this year.
Blackberry OS 7s addictively ingenious Augmented Reality feature enables users to read reviews on any restaurant they pass by or to get information on an historic building or landmark they are standing in front of, just by holding up the device and scanning the scene with the camera. All the items on the screen will automatically be overlaid with any available information. The systems new Near Field Communication (NFC) technology enables users to wirelessly hitch up with any other NFC-enabled gadgets with one simple tap; you can exchange photos, music, movies, documents, BBM and contacts with this feature.
OS 7 has also revamped the BlackBerry Browser; it loads pages 40 per cent faster than its predecessor and allows users to flip between websites in the blink of an eye or a swipe of the finger to be precise - with its Multiple Tab Browsing feature. Panning and zooming on this new browser is a dream.
Virtual socialising has been hugely simplified thanks to the new Social Feeds app, with BlackBerry users now able take a look at all their texts, emails, BBM messages Tweets and Facebook friends from one readily accessible point on the smartphone. The unified inbox pulls them all together in one place, meaning that no message, social feed or update need ever be overlooked again.
The new system makes for a sumptuously high definition visual experience, too, thanks to the high-resolution screen, a lightning-quick CPU and a mighty new graphics processor. Response times are virtually instantaneous and the animations are gloriously smooth and fluid. Not only that, but with OS 7 you really have no need for a separate HD camera, because it includes a full HD 720p video recording feature and a superb digital camera for stills. Photos can easily be uploaded to YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, while it is also possible to connect to a games console wirelessly, so you can share your photographic genius with admirers on the big screen via the systems Mobile Media Server.
If typing commands laboriously onto the keyboard is not really your cup of tea, OS 7 will spare you the tedium. Its voice-activated controls are second to none, allowing you to browse the web, locate contacts, listen to music, dictate texts and search for files, simply by speaking your wishes out loud.
You will also get more life out of this fine 3g specimen, because OS 7 includes a clever battery-saving app, which automically cuts down on power when it is not required. It will even overcome those frustrating occasions when you urgently need internet access but cannot find a WiFi hotspot; the Mobile Hotspot feature on the smartphone will create one, provided you have access to a 3g network, giving you full access to private internet cover on your tablet or laptop.
Finally, if you want to listen to a little music and are feeling a bored with your playlists, just fire up the excellent FM tuner and listen to whatever takes your fancy - from Gardeners Question Time to Chris Moyles.

Why wont my OS update I deleted the vendor xml file !
Why wont my OS update I deleted the vendor xml file !
Why wont my OS update? I deleted the vendor.xml file!
So, you downloaded the newest, latest and greatest OS for your BlackBerry and have followed the below instructions:
1. Download and install Desktop Manager.
2. Download and install the OS of your choice for your device.
3. Delete vendor.xml located in c:program filescommon files esearch in motionapploader.
4. Plug in BB and open Desktop Manager.
However, when you open Desktop Manager you get no prompt to update. When you open Application Loader your new OS is not listed!! And this has been plaguing people for months now!!!
The problem lies in the new Desktop Managers automatic "Check for Updates" feature. This feature uses your internet connection to look for OS updates for your device from your carrier. When it does this it loads a second virtual vendor.xml file in the temp folder on your computer. So, even after you delete the normal one that is installed with the OS and Desktop Manager, the automatic "Check for Updates" feature loads another one based on the brand of device youve got plugged into the PC.
To prevent this from happening you need to install Desktop Manager WITHOUT this Automatic Update service. Below are the steps to remove this service.
1. Go to Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs.
2. Click on "BlackBerry Desktop Software" and select "Change/Remove."
3. When prompted, hit "Next" and then you should get options for Modify, Repair, or Remove. Choose "Modify."
4. In the list of installed items, you should see "BlackBerry Automatic Update." Click the icon next to it and change it to "This feature will not be available." That should put an "X" next to "BlackBerry Automatic Update." If you dont see this option in this list then continue with the install and the installation will ask you a few screens later.
A screen will be shown where you will be asked to check the boxes for:
A) "Start BlackBerry Desktop Manager automatically each time the computer starts."
B) "Create a shortcut for BlackBerry Desktop Manager on the Windows Desktop."
C) "Check for software updates."
Be sure number 3, "Check for software updates," is NOT checked.
Note: If youre installing Desktop Manager fresh, be sure and choose the "Custom"
install button so that you get the prompt for what features you want installed. Otherwise all the features will be installed as normal and youll have this issue.)
Once that is complete, youll need to go back and search your computer for vendor.xml. When you do the search, make sure you click on "Advanced Options" and make sure that you search Hidden files and folders. This is important as some operating systems create a virtual store in the temp folder that this vendor.xml file is located in. You will not find this particular vendor.xml if you dont have hidden files/folders selected for search. Once the hidden vendor.xml is deleted it wont come back if youve reinstalled Desktop Manager without the Automatic Update Feature enabled.
Now, make sure your OS is installed (you may need to install the OS again, if you actually remove Desktop Manager and then reinstall Desktop Manager again. Make sure that you delete the normal vendor.xml file LAST before updating the device.
Tip of the day: Desktop Manager is not even required for doing an OS upgrade. In the same folder as the vendor.xml file is a file called Loader.exe. Running that will run apploader without Desktop Manager. It still makes the full backup and restore, but without all the DM stuff running in the background.

ZTE to Launch Mozilla Mobile OS based Smartphones
ZTE to Launch Mozilla Mobile OS based Smartphones

Chinese telecommunications equipment maker ZTE Corp. plans to launch smartphones using a mobile operating system it developed with Mozilla, the U.S. software company behind the Firefox web browser, in the first quarter of next year.
The move is the latest indication that handset makers are looking beyond Google Inc.s dominant Android mobile operating system as they try to diversify the software platforms for their smartphones and other mobile devices. While Apple Inc.s iPhone uses its own iOS software, most other smartphones currently sold around the world are powered by Android.
ZTE Executive Vice President He Shiyou said at a press briefing Wednesday that the company, one of Chinas largest mobile handset makers, will also launch smartphones using Microsoft Corp.s Windows Phone 8 operating system at the end of this year or early next year.
Along with Microsofts Windows Phone 8, the new mobile operating system from Mozilla and ZTE will fuel discussions world-wide about possible alternatives to Android. Potential alternatives are drawing more attention as the technology industry is closely watching Apples patent war against rival smartphone makers using the Google software.
ZTEs smartphone launch plans also come after Taiwanese personal computer maker Acer Inc. last week postponed its release in China of a new smartphone using Alibaba Group Holdings Aliyun mobile operating system, after Google objected to the phones launch.
Google said Alibabas Aliyun "was derived from Android" yet it isnt compatible with Android. Acer, a handset maker that is part of the Android ecosystem, isnt allowed to ship non-compatible Android devices, Google said. Alibaba, Chinas biggest e-commerce company, strongly disagreed with Googles view, saying that some of Aliyuns key software components were developed by Alibaba and are different from those used in Android.
According to market research firm IDC, 68.1% of smartphones shipped worldwide in the second quarter used Android, while 16.9% were Apple products running on iOS. Microsofts Windows Phone mobile operating system accounted for only 3.5%.
ZTE, whose main business is providing telecommunications infrastructure and equipment, entered the mobile handset business in 2002. ZTE accounted for 5.2% of all the smartphones shipped worldwide in the second quarter, up sharply from 1.8% a year earlier, according to IDC, ranking the company fifth after Samsung Electronics Co., Apple, Nokia Corp. and HTC Corp. of Taiwan.
