What Is Hiberfilsys in Windows and How to Delete It
AA TECH - What Is Hiberfilsys in Windows and How to Delete It - Windows operating systems have two power management modes. Those modes are known as sleep mode and hibernate mode.
Sleep Mode keeps the computer running but in a low power state allowing you instantly get back to normal working conditions, provided electricity supply to the computer is maintained.
Hibernate Mode writes the present memory state to the hard disk drive and powers the machine down entirely. This allows you to keep the working state preserved indefinitely and get it back to its pre power-down state after a power failure or battery removal. The memory state for hibernate mode is saved to a file named hiberfil.sys, which is stored on the hard disk. Since the entire contents of the RAM is written, this file can be as large as the amount of RAM installed on your computer. If you have never hibernated your computer, this file will not exist on your hard disk. However, if you have entered the hibernate mode even once, this file will be created and occupy a large chunk of space on your hard disk
How to delete hiberfil.sys?
You cannot delete this file directly, since this is a system file managed by Windows. You can however get rid of this file by disabling hibernate mode. The disabling method varies depending on the version of Windows. Simple follow the steps relevant to your chosen operating system.
